    Default Power steering 2000 Altima

I have a 2000 Nissan Altima. I replaced the power steering pump and now have a loud whining noise. I was told to replace the power steering fluid with ATF, but I do not know how to get all of the PSF out of the system first. Also the bolts with holes through them do not line up with the hoses. I cannot find a schematic of the system in order to verify that I have the correct placement of the washers and bolts

    Hello gonzonokc,

Our manuals have a power steering system bleeding procedure to help get rid of the air your system -that's what's causing the loud whinning sound (most likely). The issue with the hydraulic line is a concern, you should have new seals for your banjo type fitting -one on each side. The holes in the banjo bolt do not have to line up with any hose. The manual also states the recommended fluid for your power steering system, we do not recommend using ATF unless the manufacturer states to use it.
