Thread: Automatic transmission won't go to park

    Thanks for your input. I didn't read it until after posting my last. There are two bushings, the upper one was worn out and had slid down the shaft. I can see the other one, but looks like you have to take the whole dash apart to get to it. I'll just replace the upper one But next time I'll know where to start.

    Replacing the bushings didn't solve the problem. Made the shifter feel better, but still won't go to park or low 1. The shift cable moves freely when not connected to the transmission. No kinks, no binding. I've made the adjustment as directed in the manual. I can move it into all positions to include park and low 1 from underneith by hand, but it won't go using the shift lever. Didn't find anything about this plastic plugger looking thing I found in the transmission oil pan. Anyone have an idea?
