Reading from your Hayes manual, you recommend using TORX Drive Bit to remove the two brake caliber brake bolts (Lincoln 1970-2005) page 9-8 figure 3.16l. I purchased a set of TORX drive bits from Craftsman, and they failed to remove the bolt after even after 20lb torque place on the bolt. The TORX Drive Bit, failed and became deformed.

Do you have a recommendation for a better tool, or procedure to remove the two bolts.

Thanks for any assistance you can give.

    Gerry

    Hi Gerry,

No, we don't have any other tool recommendation. Torx bolts must be removed with a Torx bit. Make sure you're using the proper size. The Ford factory service manual specifies a T40 Torx drive bit.

Thanks for the reply message. I suspect the TORX bit I used was of poor quality as the bit deformed rather easily while the bolt was not deformed. Thank you for the confirmed size of TORX bit to use, as I will look for other vendors to provide a better quality TORX bit for this application.
