Default Freon type for 1994 ford ranger

    How do I tell if I have a R-12 or 134a system?

look on the pump or evaporator for a tag that tells you or if the tag is missing call your local dealer with your vin and they should be able to tell you i am pretty sure its R-134a but i am not positive

The 94 Rangers used both types, there are several tags that state R-134a, on the radiator/fan shroud, compressor and next to both service ports. Make sure you find out which system you have because r-12 and r-134a can not be mixed.
