    Default 1997 Ford Ranger

I have a 3.0 liter V6 engine with automatic transmission, and engine light on in dash. I have manuals 36071 and 10205.I hooked a Genisys machine up to truck. I get codes P1443 EVAP purge value malfunction, P1401 DPFE Sensors circuit high voltage, and P1000 OBD II monitor test cycle not complete. I can't find these codes in these manuals. I found the DPFE, will run test according to manual. Don't understand the EVAP, whats that? And of course the P1000 test is unclear. Thanks for help and suggestions.

    Hi rickluc,

The EVAP system is the emission control system that stores, then burns, any fuel vapors given off by the fuel system.

The P1000 code is set because of the other trouble codes that are present. Once the other problems are fixed and the codes are cleared, the P1000 shouldn't set again. After a "drive cycle" is completed, all of the readiness monitors should have run and passed if everything in the engine management system is functioning properly.
