Cool Trotle on 99 Isuzu Rodeo???

It seam as though the throttle is stuck as the RPM are always around 2000.
Even when in park. Once I've accelerated up to 35mph it will maintain that speed without touching the pedal. Anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Jcunningham,

The first thing I'd check would be the throttle cable to make sure it isn't sticking. Look at the throttle lever at the throttle body - is it returning completely against its stop? If it isn't, find out why. Disconnect the cable from the throttle lever and work it back and forth manually to see if it moves smoothly.

Other possibilities could include a defective idle air control valve or an intake air leak. Also, is there a CHECK ENGINE light on? If so, use that in your diagnosis. Your Haynes manual will show you how. If you don't have a manual, get one. This sounds like a condition that could potentially be very dangerous, and you need to get it fixed right away.

If you have the manual and still can't figure out the problem, contact one of our tech service reps at research@haynes.com.

Hope this helps, and thanks for your interest in Haynes manuals!
