I am attempting to replace the oil pan gasket on a 2000 Cadillac Deville DTS. Is this something that I can do myself, or do you think it is necessary for me to pay the $2000 to a shop for the work. I have been reading other posts and was advised that this is a big job, but can be done myself. I was given these instructions.

1. Raise vehicle on jack stands. 2. Drain oil and remove filter. 3. Remove the crossover pipe from the front cylinder head manifold. 4. Disconnect the oil level sensor. 5. Remove the bolts secureing the pan to the lower half of engine block. ( Pry gently if pan is stuck and do not damage the mating surfaces. Remove the oil pump strainer. 6. Clean all mateing surfaces and assemble in reverse order tightening the bolts in three steps to 89 inch pounds for pan and strainer.

Does this sound accurate? Please advise, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!
