    Unhappy 2001 minivan steering gear

I'm having real trouble getting the last bolt from the rack, the Haynes manual shows to move the HCU but it is on the firewall not the cradle. The rear transaxle mount is int he way. Any suggestions

    Hi minvanman,

What kind of van are you working on, and what manual are you using?

    Hi
    It's a 2001 Chrysler T&C with 3.8l. I'm using manual 30011.

    Minivanman,

Actually, 2001 is the first year for that vehicle that the ABS HCU doesn't have to be repositioned. The factory service information doesn't mention anything about the transaxle mount, but if it's in the way, you might have to support the engine/transaxle securely, then unbolt the transaxle mount to give you the working room you need. Just remember, never position any part of your body under the engine or trans. if it's being supported by a hoist, support fixture, or by a jack from below.
