    Thanks for clearing things up. So if I understand you correctly, What you are describing as the OSS, is also called the VSS in the Haynes manual. Right? I still find the OBDII codes confusing. The manual lists a code P0500 for the VSS and I'm getting codeP0720 OSS. And there are still others that say Ford called the VSS/OSS a TSS that year. At least I know where it is. Thanks again.

    don777 - VSS is the OSS and the TSS is only on the 3.0, yea thats about right.

    OK, I understand now: VSS & OSS are the same (except the Ford parts counter calls it a TSS). It would have been nice if this were stated in the manual, along with the correct OBDII codes for Ford. Thanks.
