    Default Mercedes benz fuel problem

    79 450sl car will not start unless you pour gas in air intake . getting fuel to Fuel distributor nothing going to injector lines out of distributor . Any ideas ??

    Hi Dwight,

    We really can't diagnose problems from a remote location, but maybe this will help. It could be a stuck control plunger in the fuel distributor. You could confirm this by removing the fuel distributor and inspecting the plunger on the underside (that's what the sensor plate operates to change fuel delivery rate).
    I once had a Rabbit GTI that would only start after extended cranking - that problem turned out to be a bad fuel pressure regulator.
    Also, some CIS systems have a filter installed at the inlet of the fuel distributor - you'll want to check that, too.

    Thank you , I have never fooled with this type fuel system . Didn't know about the plunger will look at that .
