    Default 1999 mercury sable rocker arms

    Im using manuel #36075 and in section 2a-5 about rocker arm installation and im trying to go by the directions in the book and having a hard time getting them to not move a littel from side to side after one rotation if the crank shaft am i doing something wrong or is there a trick to this

    crash77 - When you tighten the rockers down amke sure you are doing it when the push rods are at the low point. Torque the bolts down and you should be done. If the engine has not been started for along time you may get a little play that will go away after the lifters get pumped up. Just make sure that the pedistals are seated.

    So the valve springs should be in the down position when i lock them down and the play will go away when i start the car up. Thank you for claring this up for me i just do not want to make a mistake

    No, the pushrods should be down all the way before you tighten the bolts - not the valve springs (that would mean the pushrods are all the way up!)
