Default installing window motor cables unwound from spindle

    Dear Sir,
DIY'er: Removed defective power window motor 2002 lincoln town car, signature model. Cables from regulator became unwound, because I did not remove old motor properly, but they are still in the spindle or gear or whatever it's called. Question:Can I simply reinstall new motor and run it to rewind the cables or do I have to remove the whole regulator and rewind the cables on the bench which of course is much longer process?
This problem is not answered in manual

    Hi Camino,

The problem isn't addressed in the factory service manual either. I think it would be a good idea to remove the regulator and do the job on the bench.
