2004 Ford F-150 Intake Manifold Runner Control
I am getting a DTC on my 2004 Ford F-150 5.4L P2004 Intake Manifold Runner Control stuck open. According to my Haynes manual, the 5.4L does not have a IMRC. Can someone tell me what may be causing this DTC?
Well, your 5.4L doesn't have IMRC, but has a Charge Motion Control Valve (CMCV) system instead. They essentially do the same thing. First thing you should do is check the actuator rods to see if either one has become detached from their clips (see Chapter 6, Section 18). These are on the firewall-side of the manifold, so they're kind of difficult to access. You can also detach the outer ends of the rods and see if the actuator arms move freely, indicating that the flaps at the ends of the runners aren't stuck.
