Hey I Have A 97 Merc Mountaineer, the situation with this my headlights do not come on, I have to literally hold the highbeam switch to drive at night, the hight beams do not work unless I hold the Switch, can someone tell me if that's a Blown Bulb or Fuse

    Hi Bernard L,

If your low beams both stopped working at the same time and your high beams only work when you hold the switch, that sounds like a dimmer switch problem. On your vehicle the dimmer switch is part of the multi-function switch on the steering column. In the Haynes manual for your vehicle (no. 36024) there is a checking procedure for the multi-function switch in Chapter 12, Section 8.

Thanks for your interest in Haynes manuals!
