Default 2010 Ford Fusion SEL Power Steering

My recently received Haynes Manual 36045 speaks only of hydraulic power steering for 2006 thru 2010 Fusions. However, fordfusionforum.com, JD Power and Edmunds indicate that all 2010 Fusions (except the Sport model) have electric power steering. If this is indeed the case, how may I obtain Haynes information about electric power steering?

    Hi im1bad1,

The electric power steering doesn't require any maintenance, and if a problem arises with the system, diagnosis is beyond the scope of the DIY mechanic, as the system is governed by the Power Steering Control Module and the High Speed Controller Area Network. Additionally, if the steering gear requires service, the only parts that are available separately are the tie-rod ends, tie-rods, and steering gear boots. The rack and motor are only available as a unit. In our steering gear removal and installation procedure we do state that some models are equipped with electric power steering, and you simply ignore the steps which don't apply (meaning anything to do with power steering fluid lines).
