Default 1997 Mercury Tracer, Starts then immediately dies as if fuel is shut off

Okay. I have a 1997 Mercury Tracer. Ran out of gas and filled it up. Car starts but dies immediately. Once in awhile it will run about 3 seconds before it dies. Replaced fuel pump and filter and didn't fix it. Bled the fuel rail from the bleeder valve to see if air was in the lines and no help. It's like the car will only run on the fuel that is primed from the fuel pump when it kicks on to prime. I've check for vacuum lines, fuel pump is working because gas come out of the fuel rail valve when pressed. Please help

    Hello preludebro,

It seems that something may be faulty in your engine management system as it relates to the ignition system. Refer to Chapter 6 to check for DTCs.
