my ignition switch has a broken rod, they want to sell me the whole steering column all i need is the rod and bracket thing,.? what can i do to resolve this.

First thing you may want to do is get one of our manuals to help you remove your old switch. You could get your own replacement and install it yourself -problem solved. By the way, who are they?
