View Full Version : 2000 VW Passat 1.8L Turbo question

I am currently working on a friends 2000 Volkswagen Passat Sedan L4-1781cc 1.8L DOHC Turbo (ATW). Which is not the most maintenance friendly car ever made. I came into the picture after he had removed the front and some other pieces off of the car. I removed the water pump, reinstalled new one, put belt back on but there is two v-belt pulleys that are not belted up. Upon looking at it, the one pulley is on the water pump and the other on the power steering pump which drives the water pump. I called around and looked through your book to no avail on finding this belt. Is it hidden somewhere that I have not read through? Thanks.

Hi MustangMan1967,

The drivebelt procedure is in Chapter 1, Section 11,
but there are no illustrations of the belt you're dealing with. The pulley halves are retained by three bolts - the pulley must be separated to remove/install the belt.
