I have a tranny problem. No overdrive but shifts fine otherwise. Just poof overnight. No slipping or noise before it happened. I was looking at getting a manual for my blazer, but didn't know if the basic repair manual covered enough transmission to be usefull. Or should I get the GM transmission manual? And another question is how do I tell what kind of tranny I have in it? The Transmission manual only covers certain types of AT trans.

Your S-10 Blazer has a 4L60-E transmission. Unfortunately, our GM transmission Techbook doesn't cover that transmission, and our regular automotive repair manuals don't cover internal transmission problems. The first thing you should do is to check for any stored trouble codes. The problem might be related to something that is relatively easy to fix.
