I have a '87 dodge ramcharger. I stuck a '71 5.9L (318 ci) in it. I used the '87 holley 2bbl. carb. I just moved to MI. from OH. Now I have no power what so ever (half mile to the floor-top speed is 40mph), and it's backfiring through the carb. can any help? It was rebuilt 2 -3 months ago and was fine for the 17 hr trip.

Hi I had a similar problem with my '69 Coronet. Carb was pushing too much fuel causing engine to run very rich. Sounds like it may be a fuel/air mixture sensor. I hope that helps.

check the timing, diferent altitude may require a change in timing for optimum performance,,,
also,,, I believe a 5.9L is a 360 C.I.,, hope this helps
