can you tell me how difficult it is to replace the timing BELT on my 2004 elantra the car has 151,654k on it and runs great i'm the original owner 80% of it is hiwy miles i also know it would be a good idea to replace the waterpump as well i have'nt purchased the manual yet, but let me know if the book explains the procedure well thanks steve

Hi hyundai steve,

Not knowing your skill level, it's hard to say how difficult it would be for you to change the timing belt. But, looking at the procedure, it looks like it's a relatively easy timing belt to replace (I've seen/done belts that are much more involved).

The replacement interval for the timing belt on your car is 60,000 miles, so you should replace it as soon as possible. You're probably aware of the fact that if the belt breaks, a lot of expensive engine damage is going to occur.
