Trying to remove rear brake drums on a 2002 Saturn L 100. I have the Haynes manual which says in order to loosen drum is to remove plug from rear and push adjuster lever toward drum to loosen. i can't find any plug near the adjuster lever. So what do you say about this problem?

Thank you

Hi worsh,

The access hole for the adjuster is on the backing plate, to the rear of the hub carrier (or knuckle) portion of the rear axle. It may or may not be covered by a rubber plug. Also, some models have a screw retaining the drum to the hub flange. If yours does, be sure to remove it before trying to pull the drum off. Lastly, it's not uncommon for the drum to get kind of rusty and fuse itself to the hub flange and/or wheel studs. You can spray some penetrating oil around those areas and let it set for awhile, then try again. Sometimes it takes a sharp whack with a hammer to break the bond.

Hope this helps, and thanks for using Haynes manuals!

Haven't had a chance to try yet, but will let you know if I have any success.

Thanks
