i have a 1999 hyundai elantra with a 2.0 L engine. i am replacing the cylinder head and i am confused with the picture in your manual as to the postion of the camshaft sprocket. it shows the sprocket with the hole in the casting being down .i think the hole should be up so you can see the red line through the hole or why else would the hole and red line even be there.is your picture correct or not .thanks for your help.please reply someone with prior experience.

Since the engine uses a distributorless ignition system it doesn't matter if the mark is up or down, as long as the crankshaft sprocket mark lines up with its index mark and the cam sprocket marks are aligned with the top of the cylinder head. In this position the engine will be on TDC compression for cylinder no. 4 (cylinders 1 and 4 travel up and down together, and cylinders 2 and 3 travel up and down together, 180-degrees from cylinders 1 and 4).
