I am looking to replace the springs on the rear of my car. Are the springs and the strut all a one piece assembly or are they seperate parts that can be changed independant of each other. I know that on my 90 deville, you can change the strut without having to mess with a spring compressor because the two are seperate.
Thanks

Hi zamunda,

If you have a Taurus sedan, your car has struts on the rear that are similar to the ones on the front, meaning that the coil spring is part of the assembly. If you have a Taurus wagon, the rear suspension uses traditional shock absorbers and separate coil springs.

Either way, the information you need is contained Haynes manual no. 36074.

Thanks for your interest in Haynes!
