Can anyone tell me what a Haynes Test is and how to do it on my starter? I read online: ... "I did a Haynes test and jumpered the relay and the starter is fine" .... I need to do this as I seem to have a problem with my starter, my battery is fine and nothing turns over when I turn the key on.

Hi Rob,

There's no such thing as a "Haynes Test." Whoever wrote that was just referring to a test that was described in one of our manuals (sounds like it must have been a Ford product). On your vehicle, check for voltage to the S-terminal on the starter solenoid (that's the small wire) when the ignition key is turned to the start position. If there's no voltage you'll have to trace the problem in the circuit from the ignition switch to the starter. If there is voltage, the solenoid is probably bad.
