Hello albert,

You're not alone. Here's a couple of tips (some you may have tried): Use a small hammer to tap the caliper at the base of the bleeder valve to help free it. Try, very slightly, tightening the bleeder to help free it. Heat the caliper and bleeder, then immediately apply ice to the bleeder itself then slowly try to open. All of these methods have worked before. We hope that one will work for you. Almost needless to say, you have to perform these techniques at your own risk -use care.

Hello albert,

Well, you're right, it's kinda hard to whack on a wheel cylinder. You can use heat as well, but all rubber should be removed first... I know the point is to rid the system of air, not add any to it, but you cannot bleed the system if the bleeder is stuck... You might consider replacing them if they are old. Try the slight tightening then loosening thing. Also, be sure to use a six-point tool. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Ifound that new wheel cyclinders were cheaper than trying to open the old ones. New ones were $7.38 ea. New cyclinders, shoes and adjusters, hardware and turning the drums was $102.
