i have your book and i cant fine the balance shaft install for the v6 (2003 jeep liberty)
i have the crankshaft in and need to install all the chains.......help

Hi Steve,

The balance shaft has a mark on it that has to be lined-up with a corresponding mark on the idler sprocket. It's kind of hard to see, but if you look down into the cavity where the left (driver's side) timing chain runs, you should be able to see it. So, be sure the marks are in alignment when you install the chains/idler sprocket (as shown in illustration 7.39). The mark on the balance shaft gear must be in the 6 o'clock position and the mark on the idler sprocket gear (that meshes with the balance shaft gear) must be in the 12 o'clock position.

yes it did, thz. i was able to build the chains and time it from the book. it was very clear ....after i did it then re-read it ,lol
